Week 11: Polish Sprint 1 - 2
Hi y’all! It is done… The last week is complete. That means the game is finished and you can play it all!
But let’s first show you what we implemented in this final sprint.
Take care of your surroundings
Last few bits of art! Like promised last week, take a look at the surroundings of the arena.
This will make sure that the player can feel even more that the arena is rising through the water when they play.
Particle Mayhem
The vfx have been polished, and new ones have been added! Check the new charged punch, and the particle that shows the arena breakage:
Also be on the lookout for some new sound effects, we’ve added a ton since last week. They’ll help you feel more immersed and ready to BRAWL!
The developers added some finishing touches. We made the Clam feel more alive by implementing some particles. When the Clam opens, you can see bubbles escaping. “The bubbles, the bubbles, the bubbles!” The Clam is now also charging up its attack, so you know it’s coming. Take cover! Or not… you decide.
Clear detonation
We realised that it was not entirely clear when the pearls are going to explode. Based on this incredibly clever statement, we decided to let the pearl flicker right before it’s going to detonate. Get out of the way!
We also added a destruction particle to indicate that the map gets damaged.
Also, the communication about when the pearls are able to be picked up could be better. That’s why we decided to show an icon whenever the pearls are ready to be picked up.

So this is it… All stories come to an end. But boy, it was a ride.
We had a lot of fun during the creation of this game and we certainly hope we could bring that fun across to you guys, the players.
It was a wonderful experience to work with this talented team on our first full-production project. We are grateful for the knowledge that we gained here and we will most definitely take this with us into our future projects.
But we would also like to thank you, bearing with us on this wonky adventure. We started out with little experience and tried our best to deliver something that could be enjoyed by anyone, mechanically and visually. Although improvements can always be made, we think that we were able to build something that we can all be proud of.
